Anini Beach ~ one of my personal favorites

Anini Beach on the North Shore of Kauai has become one of my personal favorites…

As beaches go, it is not the widest and the water is not the deepest, but the relaxation factor is immense!

Love a day watching the current, wading out in the water, strolling along the sand, enjoying the sun and relaxing with a book.

Hope to get another day at Anini soon!

Snorkel Kauai

Aloha!

Another great day on Kauai ~ sunny with a hint of clouds and temperatures in the mid to high 80s ~ absolutely joyous!

In an effort to answer the most common Kauai Beach questions, I thought today that I would talk about snorkeling on Kauai.

Though I am not a snorkeler… through the Coconut Wireless (aka talk on the streets of Kauai), various guidebooks, and the internet I believe the best snorkeling spots are:

Tunnels Beach and Ke'e Beach on the North Shore

Poipu Beach Park on the South Shore

Lydgate Beach Park on the East Side

Salt Pond to the West

There are also boat tours that offer snorkeling from many resources starting out at Port Allen.   Try Holoholo Charters, one of my personal favorite trips is along the Napali Coastline ~ departs at dawn, but well worth the alarm clock.

Check them out and let me know what you think!

It’s a great day every day on Kauai.

Anini Beach

Anini Beach, Kilauea, North Shore, Kauai, Hawaii

Anini has a fabulous long stretch of beach with minimal wave action due to the large reef offshore.

The soft sand, which is cooler by comparison to some other beaches, is easy to walk on.

Water is refreshing but shallow ~ great for wading and water activities like snorkeling and floating that that don't require big waves!

Amenities: Parking, Bathrooms, Picnic Benches, Shower, Grassy Area

Directions: Highway 56: turn Kalihiwai Road*, turn left on Anini Road and follow down to the beach [*there are two Kalihiwai Roads, this is the second one when coming from Kilauea/Kapaa areas and closer to Princeville]

Kealia Beach Sunrise 30 Beaches in 30 Days

30 Beaches in 30 Days
Kealia Beach Sunrise today WOW!
This has to be one of the most beautiful beaches on Kauai!
Stretches on forever for walking and was the most pleasant place to catch the sunrise
You know that green flash at sunset? Well this morning at sunrise, there was a moment when the sun just turned on, like a lightswitch... So incredibly cool!
Kealia Beach, Kapaa, Kauai

Kalapaki Bay Beach. 30 beaches in 30 days

30 beaches in 30 days
Kalapaki Bay Beach #4
As if sunrise at Keali Beach wasn't enough... I stopped at Starbucks
for a cup 'o mocha and a treat
Then headed down to Kalapaki Bay by the Kauai Marriott and Nawiliwili
Harbor to enjoy!
Great beginnings for a work day! As they say...Lucky I live Hawaii.

Glass Beach Port Allen
Beach 2 on Day 2

Really cool! Black sands and small small softened pieces of glass -
mostly amber and clear, but also found some beautiful blues and greens!

Beach 1 Hanalei Bay

Beautiful day at Hanalei Bay! Early morning meant I had the beach all
to myself - well, at least that's how it felt.

Cool water, gentle waves perfect way to start the day! A quick stroll
and then off to work.

Hanalei Bay, North Shore, Kauai

30 beaches in 30 days!

Life is short! I am challenging myself to go to 30 different beaches
in 30 days!
